This trailer is for a documentary about Roger Corman, a filmmaker who broke molds and made movies none else would. Once again, the lesson is make the movie.

Trailer: 21 Jump Street
In grade school, 21 Jump Street was quite big among my peers. I never watched it and remember poking fun and people for being members of the Johnny Depp fan club. Times have certainly changed and my impressions of Johnny Depp are small among those things. Here we have the trailer of the film re-invention of that most revered of TV shows. I have to say I like it. I will not say its going to be a good movie. I just think it’ll be fun. I say that a lot, I know, but I do enjoy movies and find something to enjoy about most of them. I think this will be an enjoyable light-hearted film and plus, I’m not bothered by Jonah Hill like so many others.
Trailer: ParaNorman
Themed appropriately for Halloween comes this trailer from the makers of Coraline. Not too much can be gathered about the plot from this trailer, but you can tell its the story of strange happenings surrounding a zombie obsessed young man. It has all the same charming characteristics of Coraline and I think it will be a fun watch next August when it comes out.
Trailer: Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol
Gotta love the intense action of the Mission: Impossible series of movies. I think my favorite in the series is the third one, directed by J.J. Abrams. It will be fun to see this one directed by Brad Bird, probably most famous from his work at Pixar, though The Iron Giant definitely has its fans. There is a featurette out there showing Tom Cruise doing his own stunts for this. Also fun to watch. Are you excited for this one?
Trailer: Grim Night
As an aspiring film maker, its nice to read stories like this one. A spec script gets picked up, in no small part due to a teaser trailer. The guys behind this aren’t new to the business, but its still nice to know that it is possible to sell that script if its a good enough story.
Trailer: The Secret World of Arrietty
Studio Ghibli’s take on the story The Borrowers is titled The Secret World of Arrietty. This is the same story that the old show The Littles is based on and there have been several other adaptations over the years. The basic concept is there are small human-like creatures living among us, within the walls and such, and they make use of things we loose or leave behind. I haven’t seen a Studio Ghibli film I didn’t like, so I expect to enjoy this one.
Trailer: The Pirates! Band of Misfits
I’m a huge fan of Aardman and pretty much all they do. This is their first stop motion feature film since parting ways with Dreamworks and looks to have all the same character and charm as their other works. I like the trailer and I think this is one that will be seen with the kids.
Trailer: Chronicle
This is a new take on superpowers for a film! I know I haven’t seen any film that takes this approach, though I’m certain there are many other stories like this. A group of friends develop super powers and start learning how to use them. Being teenagers, they use them for silly pranks and such till one of them starts to use them more for harm. The trailer shows it to be a found footage type of film which will put a lot of people off to it, but I like it. I think it looks quite good. Check it out!
Trailer: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
This is a rather long new trailer for the second in the new Sherlock Holmes series of movies. This one is titled A Game of Shadows and features Moriarty as the villain. I had mixed feeling about the first movie and don’t expect that to change for the second. I didn’t really like the modern styling of the shooting being applied to a period piece. I know that distinction is silly given that all film is “modern,” but I felt the style conflicted with the setting of the story. Anyhow, here’s the trailer.
Trailer: The Avengers
This is the first trailer for The Avengers movie. Lots of the superhero movies that have come out lately have come out to introduce the characters for this movie. Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk are all movies that tie in to the Avengers movie.
The thing that has me excited about the film is Joss Whedon. I love most of Joss Whedon’s work, like Firefly and Dollhouse. His attention to character interactions and development make those shows compelling. I think he will do great things with this film. I hope so.
